Dear Trinity family,
On Sunday, October 22 we will have a Special Parish Meeting. If you have been around for a little while, you know that we have an Annual Parish Meeting where we elect members to serve on Vestry, vote on changes to our bylaws, receive a financial update from our Treasurer, and an update from the Rector on the state of our church. A Special Parish Meeting is, well, special. Instead of tackling the ordinary business of our church life together, a Special Parish Meeting looks at a particular set of issues that need to be addressed.
At this meeting, I will be announcing refreshed vision and mission statements for Trinity. These vision and mission statements will be a key focus for our life together for many years to come. As part of this, we will also unveil our first set of community groups at Trinity. It is in the context of these smaller communities where mission takes place; these communities will be the primary place we live into our vision and live out our mission together.
We will also be introducing some changes to our bylaws, particularly pertaining to how we handle membership. The proposed amendments to our bylaws will be made available to you in advance of the Special Parish Meeting for your prayerful consideration.
Lastly, this meeting will be very close to my one year anniversary serving as your rector. I will offer some reflections on what God has done over the past year and announce some exciting plans for our future that have grown out of my meetings with all of you. You won’t want to miss it! Mark your calendars and plan to stay after church on Sunday, October 22. Lunch will be provided. Even if you are new to our church, please come!
