Hello from Rwanda!

We made it safe and sound to Rwanda after quite an interesting 30 hours of travel since leaving Thomasville at 9:30 am on Friday. I won’t give you all the harrowing details (about running through the airport and leaving behind food we already paid for and misplaced suitcase misunderstandings) because I think David summed it up best on our flight from Boston to Amsterdam like this: “Man, Satan must really not be happy about what we are going to do.” “I know,” was my reply. “It’s exciting isn’t it?”

For me, one of the big takeaways from our travel time together was what a wonderfully strong team we are. There were many, many challenges thrown at us on our day of travel and I truly felt we were stronger as a team than we would have been on our own. I am thankful to the Lord for sustaining us and giving us peace and a clear path— and that we made all our flights! To God be the glory!

We finally made it to Brandon & Emily’s beautiful home in Kigali around 9:30 pm Rwanda time. They graciously served us a wonderful meal together on their upstairs terrace with a stunning view of the city (which we were able to truly appreciate this morning) and we all gratefully fell into bed.

After breakfast together this morning, we were able to go to the English service at Trinity Cathedral, where Brandon spoke about unity and Father David helped serve the Eucharist. It brought tears to my eyes to worship this morning with people from all across the globe, our lips saying the same words you all, our Trinity family, are saying right now back in Thomasville. What a wonderful picture of unity within the body of Christ. Right after the English service, there was a Kinyarwandan service and although we could not understand the language, their worship was incredibly Spirit-filled. It was an honor to be included in their service.

Please continue to be praying for the week we have ahead of us: our schedule is jam-packed! We ask for prayers for restful sleep and continued peace as the Lord leads us here in Rwanda.

Love to you all!
